8/19/2023 0 Comments Mini orbiter reviewThere are also x-frame pieces that allow this Mini Stealth to be installed on a Switchwire. There is a separate 'strain_relief' stl for use in the V0.1. This Orbiter 2.0 Mini Stealth is a better fit than the Orbiter 1.5 Mini Stealth in a V2.4 or Trident as the motor no longer interferes with the path of the cable chain. The shroud fits a 3010 hotend fan or a 3007 fan by using a clip-in adapter. I have raised my tophat by 20mm which gives the cabling and filament tube plenty of room to breathe. The width of the main body at its base is also a very tight fit at the extremes of X travel. The depth of these fans do limit Y travel by 3mm on a V0.1 while the door is closed and tophat is on. The Mini Stealth uses a pair of 4010 blowers which produce more airflow than a 5015 blower while being notably less noisy and drawing less current. The negative body feature of Prusa/Super Slicer can also be used to create a crop-top version of the shroud as described at the end of the tutorial. There are now two hex pattern inlays based on the design by 3DP-MAMSIH and a tutorial on how to apply them to the shroud. I cannot verify the fitment so if there are any issues please leave a comment. The UHF hotends will reduce Z travel by 8.5mm and the VolcoMosq by 3mm. The Dragon UHF and Rapido UHF hotends can fit in the same shroud. I have added new stretched versions that should fit the Rapido UHF, Dragon UHF and the VolcoMosq hotends. It incorporates a status LED as well as two for print visibility. It is designed around the Orbiter 2.0 extruder and has versions for the Phaetus Dragonfly, Dragon and Rapido HF hotends as well as versions for the Mosquito, the Revo Voron and the Creality Spider Pro hotends. Fully assembled it weighs about 110 grams less than the original. This toolhead scales down the body of the Stealthburner to a size which fits into a V0.1/V0.2.

8/19/2023 0 Comments Tama kami shintoI was leading our moot’s Imbolc ritual this year, and before it began, there seemed to be a lot of funny, hyperactive energy flowing around the circle. I’ve even chanted Hi-Fu-Mi when leading rituals with my local moot. I therefore like to intone the Hi-Fu-Mi norito before conducting rituals (including Neopagan ones) as a way of purifying the ritual space. The Hi-Fu-Mi norito is considered a prayer of purification, with the power of changing misfortune into good fortune. If you want to know what the Hi-Fu-Mi norito sounds like, you can hear it being recited here. Finally, it’s usually only written in phonetic hiragana characters rather than ideographic kanji characters, which is especially welcomed as the kanji used in most norito are typically much more difficult to read than those in regular modern Japanese. This makes it much easier to recite in a rhythmic manner. Secondly, it consists only of syllables (in fact, all of the major Japanese syllables occurs once without repetition) and has no real words, although many Shintoists attribute particular meanings to individual or groups of syllables (the first ten syllables, for example, can be translated as the numbers 1-10). Firstly, it’s quite a lot shorter than many other norito. I think this is one of the most accessible norito for several reasons. U O E NI SA RI HE TE NO MA SU A SE E HO RE KE SHI KI RU YU I TSU WA NU SO O TA HA KU ME KA HI FU MI YO I MU NA YA KO TO MO CHI RO RA NE One norito I would recommend to those starting out in Shinto or who are not so confident with Japanese is the “Hi-Fu-Mi” norito. For me, saying the norito in their original language is a way of honouring and remembering Shinto’s Japanese origins, as well as being a form of spiritual discipline – it’s much harder to memorise a norito in Japanese than in English, so to make the effort to do so is an act of devotion. I find the English translations in Shinto Norito: A Book of Prayers, a book by ordained Shinto priestess Ann Llewellyn Evans that I highly recommend, to be particularly beautiful.īut as I can speak Japanese, I do like to say norito in their original language (as well as in English). I see nothing wrong with this at all – I think it’s good to speak to the kami in the language that is closest to your heart. One way to get round this is to say the norito in your own language. 8/19/2023 0 Comments Verne nemoVerne's long didactic passages explaining scientific concepts are almost entirely removed. But one of the most significant things that happens in this transformation-and one that sets the stage for most of the others-is that Hollywood converted Verne's scientific fiction, a work that is full of didacticism, into a work of science fiction, one which “utilizes science for purely fictional purposes” (Evans “Science Fiction” 1). The transformation that I wish to trace here, from novel to film, across almost a century of history, and from France to the United States, is more complex than can be thoroughly dealt with in this short space. Peter Filene suggests that the last century comprised a continuous development of men's struggle to redefine masculinity within a culture where “work involved brain more than brawn individualism melted into corporate bureaucracy” (341). Technical man is set into competition with more muscular heroic models-that of the warrior, the sports-hero, the rugged individualist, the superhero, and others. In their dealings both with Nemo and with each other, they serve to highlight and to bring into focus a number of salient features of this new social order: in particular, its competing models of masculinity. Confronting Nemo and suddenly complicating the interpersonal dynamics aboard the Nautilus is the typically Vernian triad of scientist/servant/common man-Professor Aronnax, Conseil, and the harpooner Ned Land. But he also has a “dark” side that is unpredictable, autocratic, obsessed, and vengeful. As a scientist, inventor, and engineer of uncommon genius, he occupies the apex of the new social pyramid and, in one sense, might be said to represent the Saint-Simonian philosopher-king. Captain Nemo is a kind of aristocratic version of the rebel without a cause: he is both a symbol of, yet strangely alienated from, that technocratic world. The social tensions that marked the transition from the old regime to this brave new world are clearly mapped in Verne's characters: four men set in competition and cooperation with each other, vying in complex ways for each other's love and loyalty within a new social hierarchy. One source of its strong appeal was in its vision of a new world ordered by technical meritocracy (Evans, Jules Verne 41-50). Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was not only a novel about technical advancement. Nautilus, Disney was bringing to life the namesake of the Nautilus in Captain Nemo's electric submarine boat and subtly altering its ideological texture to fit a new age.ġ. As Americans looked forward with excitement to the 1954 launching of Hyman Rickover's “Atom Sub” significantly called the U.S.S. The age of the Industrial Revolution was taken up and used as a metaphor for the electronic and atomic revolutions that followed World War II. But this nostalgia seems to have served a purpose for technological propaganda, a kind of Icarian or Promethean mythos of early engineering genius that foretold the present day's technical wonders. They all evoked a nostalgia for the Victorian world, with its class distinctions and colonial wealth. I slowly came to realize that several of these Cold War era films translated Verne's novels into their own cultural codes by shifting their emphases and changing their characters. Enthralled by how much was the same, and so visually rich, I had never noticed how much was radically different. Often praised at its release as a faithful homage to the novel, Disney's Leagues surprised me when I began to compare it to the book. Recently, while writing about Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I returned to the Disney film version that had so enchanted me as a boy. Those marvelous technicolor and Cinemascope movies of Around the World in 80 Days, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Five Weeks in a Balloon, From the Earth to the Moon, Master of the World, and others introduced a large segment of the American population to Verne's novels and to the genre of science fiction. It has been nearly a half-century since this last happened, during the 1950s and 60s when a spate of American film adaptations of his novels made Verne a household word, a name equated with the adventure of science and its uncanny progress over the last century. Jules Verne's Paris au XXe Siècle, which made news in the past year, has once again raised aloft the bearded profile of its author as an icon of scientific prophecy. Between Jules Verne and Walt Disney: Brains, Brawn, and Masculine Desire in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea If I were a successful construction contractor, I could run a whole business from in there, which has been the point of contemporary trucks for a while they’re for people who do physical work, and they’re also mobile offices. The one I received, on the other hand, was a Platinum edition, which comes in at $95,000. The base-level Lightning comes in at about $49,000, which is not a lot compared with what a new car costs. I loved it so much floating inside that cab made me feel happy and prosperous. But it drove smoothly and quietly and with basically no vibration. The truck was more than 19 feet long, including a five-and-a-half foot bed, and had a 12-foot wheel base, not easy to maneuver into a tight parking space. The Lightning was high-end, magnificent, elegant and high-tech inside, without feeling pretentious. I cruised silently across the highways of Austin, drifting above the carbon-spewing masses. And yet I gazed at it with fresh wonder, like it was a piece of alien technology that had crash-landed in my yard. This one had nearly 15,000 miles on it, ready to be put out from the fleet to stud every car writer and their second cousin had driven it by that point. Then, at last, on a Wednesday morning, they dropped one off in my driveway. When my editor reactivated me, the Lightning was my first priority. This new F-150 floated in my vision from afar, like a celebrity who’d never talk to me at a party. I’d been out of the car-writing racket for nearly four years, which didn’t bother me much, but occasionally, a car would appear that had me wishing.
